Anchoring the Victoria Gate development, John Lewis have settled in the heart of Leeds city centre. The store has been welcomed by locals, with over half a million customers visiting the store within the first opening week!
The impressive building design incorporates a vast amount of natural daylight into the store as seen through the triangular windows, embedded into the intricate styling of the exterior of the building, which looks even better at night than during the day with the well planned uplighting to highlight the design.
The lighting design had been considerate to both the architecture of the building whilst as always using the most energy and cost effective solutions. Within the exposed ceiling areas, lighting tray was set out over the walkways along each face, which integrates both ambient and directional light. Lighting track systems have also been designed and supplied for such areas allowing for changes or movements, offering flexibility of design for when our site operatives attend site to aim all directional lighting.
This store has integrated services such as an in-house beauty spa, Kuoni travel agents, Benugo and ‘The Place to Eat’, in addition to a complete range of products you will have come to expect from such a prominent department store.
John Lewis are supporting local business by stocking over one hundred products from 11 local Yorkshire suppliers as part of their new ‘Made Locally’ initiative. This has been an ongoing consideration from the partnership, which now have cemented their ambitions and produced a marriage of local and chain businesses, offering customers more choice of products and supporting local business simultaneously.
