At Waitrose Bayswater the client needed to extend its store into a first floor area within the Colonnades shopping centre on Porchester road.
The challenge there was that the ceiling height was relatively low so there was no space for a suspended ceiling. This problem was combated with a concrete coffered ceiling, normally associated with car parks or industrial buildings. As a result, Edge Lighting developed a linear pendant tray system that could house both ambient and accent lighting whilst carrying all the necessary cabling.
This meant that the waffle ceiling could be kept clear of additional conduit and trunking, and after being painted white, this gave the store a clean retro-style look.
The addition of some plaster board bulkheads with recessed lighting brought the store into the 21st century and the overall effect was extremely effective.
Edge Lighting worked closely with the consultants and design teams, providing lighting visualisations and calculations to ensure the right lighting effect was achieved.
