Edge Lighting supplied the linear lighting system for the theatre space, working to a technical specification developed by BWB Consulting. The brief asked for precision over drama: controlled light levels, seamless architectural integration and fully compliant emergency provision, all without visual distraction in the performance space.

The theatre required functional lighting for entry, seating and circulation, while maintaining a clean visual field that would not compete with stage lighting. The design criteria set by BWB Consulting included:

• Lighting levels designed for performance and rehearsal use, with even coverage across the seating and circulation areas.
• Fully DALI dimmable system for smooth control during show transitions and rehearsals.
• Integrated emergency lighting that meets compliance without additional fittings.
• Continuous suspended linear profile for a clean architectural line.
• Bespoke mounting solution coordinated around theatre rigging and equipment positions.

To meet these requirements, Edge Lighting supplied:

• Linteq 50 – general lighting delivered through a suspended continuous linear system for consistent light and clean sightlines

• Tron 50 – integral emergency lighting built into the same profile, ensuring compliance without additional fittings

A bespoke suspension arrangement was developed, with fixing points at 1500mm centres across 7.5m linear runs, allowing the system to align with technical rigging and infrastructure.

This approach ensured the lighting supported the architecture and technical layout of the theatre, rather than competing with it.
